"Leave the World Behind" on Netflix: A Thrilling Ride

The rise of technology has changed the way we live our lives. Often it feels like we have the world in our hands or pockets. What starts as a simple family getaway melts into a turn of events that leads us to feelings of distrust, shock, and fear. The film starts with Clay and Amanda, going out of town on an impromptu vacation with their kids Rosie and Archie. Their stay at a rented home takes an unexpected turn when they are met by the hosts, George and Ruth. The reason (why they are at the house) is there was a blackout and they had to return home. George & Ruth are met with relentless questioning and rude badgering from Amanda. On the flip side, Clay is a hospitable guest.

As events in the film unfold, Rosie starts to pick up on the situation. Anomalies, if you will. She speaks up constantly only to be treated as a child with a wild imagination. As much as this little girl loves the show Friends, she sees a lot of the outside world when the family is experiencing a blackout.

The families split and come together in a film that is arguably one of Netflix’s best films for this month. It's a must-see that really puts the “world” into perspective.
